Thank
you for your interest in our firm
We
have been working within the federal government, state
government, and corporate government affairs fields for nearly
30 years.
Our
political and business experience has been both “inside” within
the companies, and “outside” as consultants. We have had a
great deal of experience “across the table” from corporate executives and government representatives.
What we’ve learned along the way can help you as you build on
your current government affairs program, or build a new
program from scratch.
For
starters…we keep it simple.
With modern technology and instant communications, a small
staff, or better yet, a group of “key consultants”, can
accomplish the same goals as a traditional brick and mortar
consulting firm….for considerably less cost.
Why
this works.
Unlike a company that trades in a commodity or specific service,
government affairs work is essentially the art of networking
with past and present political and government contacts.
By
its very nature, the manpower necessary in this type of business
varies with each job, each client, and each situation. We have
been successful because we’ve recognized this and made this
fundamental principle the cornerstone of our business
philosophy.
As
a result, only when we bring on a new client, do we begin to
build our team of consultants to fit that client’s needs. We
shy away from in house staffing and prefer instead to work with
highly experienced sub-contractors and consultants who have
particular expertise in the areas of our clients' interests.
They are out there and ready to work at a moment’s notice.
Where we work is as important as how we work.
Traditional corporate government affairs programs traditionally
divide the nation into regions, giving each region a director
complete with staff, office, company car and expense account.
The director typically receives periodic reports from lobbyist
retained in the capitols of each state in that particular
region. An effective, but costly system, especially when the
company has never had a problem in Oklahoma City, Topeka,
Cheyenne, Helena, Juneau, or Baton Rouge.
Our
model, by contrast, puts our client’s resources in a particular
state, or geographic region of the country, where they have a
pressing need. Our years of experience allow us to call on
our political relationships to tailor a government affairs
strategy to meet the clients needs in this core area.
If,
circumstances change, our system allows us to turn on a dime and
get a team up and running in Bismarck, Jackson or Columbia
within hours. When the issue is resolved, we can draw down just
as quickly and divert the client's resources back to the core
areas.
Good luck!
